NFL Week 16 Picks: Crunch Time for Contenders

Jonathan Taylor and the Colts are looking to make some noise in the AFC on the heels of a big win over the Patriots last Saturday.

We’re nearing the end, so it’s crunch time for contenders and for yours truly to bounce back after a rough 2-4 week. Will the Real Slim Shady please stand up in the AFC? There has to be someone besides the Chiefs, doesn’t there? We’ll find out quickly on Saturday night with one of those so-called contenders in action. At any rate, time for some picks:

Last week: 2-4

Season: 12-13

Indianapolis at Arizona (-2)

It’s hard for me to not feel like the Colts are better than 8-6 and the Cardinals are worse than 10-4, hence why I’m making this pick. As long as Carson Wentz doesn’t mess anything up (never a guarantee), the Colts should get the road win. Pick: Colts.

Buffalo at New England (-2)

I feel like everyone wants to pick Buffalo here because they “should” have beat the Patriots a couple weeks ago and the Patriots are back to earth after their winning streak ended last week. Not to mention New England only threw three passes and won, so people must feel like that isn’t a sustainable solution. But the Bills are the Bills, and Bill Belichick is Bill Belichick. There is a reason he has been out-foxing Sean McDermott for years. Even though the Bills are probably the better team on paper, my hunch is they find a way to lose again because the Patriots are in their heads. Pick: Patriots.

Los Angeles Chargers (-10.5) at Houston

Call me crazy, but I like the Texans to make this a game. The Chargers showed their true Chargers colors in messing up that game against the Chiefs and with no Joey Bosa, Davis Mills could put up some solid numbers. Houston is dealing with a massive virus outbreak, but I just feel like this is such a classic Chargers letdown spot I can’t not take the points here. Pick: Texans.

Chicago at Seattle (-6.5)

Nick Foles gets the start! Good to see Ol’ St. Nick, but the Seahawks seem overdue for a good home performance, where they’re 2-4 this year. The Bears just don’t inspire any confidence and I can’t imagine Foles is all that effective in his first start of 2021. Pick: Seahawks.
