MLB Best Bets for September 3, 2024

Patrick Corbin has pitched well of late, but could he be due to return to early-season form?

We’re trying out a new segment here with a few of my picks for today’s best MLB bets (odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook).

My advice, for what it’s worth, would be to parlay these, either as a 3-leg parlay (+197) or a round-robin (three separate 2-leg parlays).

Brendan Donovan to get at least 1 hit (-215)

Donovan has been hot lately and St. Louis needs this game (and all games) badly. He has hit in five straight and has racked up five hits in his last two games. Aaron Civale has been good but inconsistent of late.

Pirates +2.5 at Cubs (-546)

Okay, -546 is extreme, I know. But again, this is why I suggest the three-leg parlay. It’s Paul Skenes, for crying out loud! Kyle Hendricks has had a rough year, but alas, the Pirates are still the Pirates. They should have momentum after their five-run eighth inning last night, and the Cubs have been so hot lately — especially on offense — that a multi-game letdown feels like a strong possibility.

Nationals at Marlins over 7.5 (-140)

Patrick Corbin has actually been outstanding lately, giving up just one run in his last two starts spanning 12 innings. But can that continue? Max Meyer has really scuffled, giving up at least four runs in five of his last six starts. The Nats have some offensive juice now with the addition of Dylan Crews and have dominated Miami this year, sweeping all six games thus far. I don’t love 7.5 as an O/U line, so you could play it even safer and go down to 6.5 (-234).
