LCS Picks — Is an Evil Empire Battle Inevitable?

Mookie Betts is playing like his regular-season self in the postseason, which is seriously bad news for the Mets.

(Disclaimer: I did make my pick for the NLCS prior to Game 1 but did not have a chance to post it.)

NLCS – Dodgers vs. Mets

Everyone is picking the Mets, and I ask myself why? The Dodgers escaped death against the one team that could beat them, the Padres, and are now steamrolling with a record-tying 33 straight scoreless innings. I had no doubts before Game 1, and even less doubt now. I’ll still stay honest and go with my original six-games prediction, even if a sweep looks more likely after last night’s 9-0 drubbing. Pick: Dodgers in 6.

ALCS – Yankees vs. Guardians

The Guardians are a nice story and the only underdog-type team left in the tournament, but I think the buck stops here. Last year was a thing of beauty to have two fresh faces in Texas and Arizona, but reality is setting in that a World Series that only fans in New York and L.A. should care about is on the verge of happening. Pick: Yankees in 7.
